People requesting protection for refugees in Canada may present their case for one or more of the following reasons:
- For political issues or persecution.
- That they are truly at risk of torture in their land or country.
- That they are at risk in their country with unusual treatment or punishment
The Refugee Protection application process in Canada begins by requesting protection either upon entering Canada or at a later date after entering Canada. Many applications will also be considered if they are submitted by refugee remittance organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or accompanied by private sponsorship. To apply as a refugee, we offer advice and support, as well as all the information you need for Canadian Refugee Protection.
