Permanent Residency

A permanent resident is a citizen of another country who has been granted permanent residence upon immigrating to Canada. A permanent resident is not a Canadian citizen. A permanent resident must live in the country for 2 years out of every 5, or risk losing that permanent resident status.

Many people can enter Canada every year as permanent residents. They complete an application process that allows them to start a new life in Canada. Once a person is permitted to come to Canada as a permanent resident, he/she is granted a permanent residence permit and enjoys virtually the same rights as Canadian citizens.

The process of obtaining permanent residence in Canada can be complex and lengthy. We provide assistance and all the information you need for your Canadian Permanent resident application.
